The present study assessed 194 Hand-wrist radiographs of children between 7 to 15 years old, that received orthodontic treatment, from Dental Clinic of San Marcos University during the years 2002 and 2005; the purpose was found the relantionship between Skeletal Maturation Indicators (SMI) of Fishman Method and Chronologic age, to determine its use in peruvian people. Results showed highly significant correlation (0.84, p< .01) between SMI’s of Fishman and chronologic age in females; and significant correlation (0.66, p< .01) in males of peruvian people. The average age to begin puberal growth spurt (SMI 1) was 8.53 years old in females, and 9.42 years old in males; to puberal growth peak (SMI 6) was 10.36 years old in females, and 12.15 years old in males. The females’ SMI was showed 1.43 years old before that in males; it confirm the early maturation in women. Comparisons made between Fishman’ results and our study showed that men begin puberal growth spurt 1.59 years ols, in average, before that male group studied for Fishman; and women begin puberal growth spurt 1.41 years old before that female group studied for Fihman. It proves that growth of peruvian people is short, inferencing the short statural height in our peruavian people.
