ABSTRACT In the last decades technological advances have not stopped evolving and, in fact, it has become a driving force in all chemical, oil, gas, and biotechnology sectors. The increase of productivity and use of resources, under this premise can be said that almost 100% of the world industrial production is controlled by systems of automatic or semi-automatic controls. According to studies by TECSUP, almost 75% of the industries in Peru using technology of the seventies and eighties, which indicates that Peru is not inserted into the competitive world and in response to this problem, systems automation have become a key element to improve business competitiveness and optimize production processes, bringing great benefits to companies that choose to adopt these systems. This work focuses on the company of explosives SA, which is dedicated to manufacture blasting accessories for civil construction or mining, the product called non-electric retarder detonator, has a process consisting of joining 4 pieces, (explosive, cable Winding, label and plastic connector). Within this process, the objective was to design and implement an automation system to improve the process of winding initiator wire for detonation of explosives, a process in which the man's hand intervened 80%, generating bottlenecks, dead times. This was done using a control panel with a modular control PLC, which is an electronic computer programmable in non-computer language, designed to control in real time and in the industrial environment the sequential processes. Also the zones of control of displacement and cut, rotating plate, tape fastening by vacuum, rear wheel holder for the entrance of the cable. Are automation control devices such as servomotor, motor controller, linear axis, proximity sensors, parallel clamps, radial clamps, pneumatic solenoid valves, vacuum generator, etc.). These receive or emit a signal which will be processed giving as a result solutions to the need, of the wire winding system for explosive detonation. Through this system allows man to intervene 20% and automation systems 80% of the process, making it more efficient, since it was possible to reduce production to 160 hours of work, 240 hours with a production of 60,000 pieces. Production increased by 50% and reduced costs in the cable winding process for explosive detonation.
