The purpose of this research addresses the problem of the accuracy of expected credit losses in the company VSA S.A.C., proposing the optimization of the model under the parameters of IFRS 9. The methodology used includes an exhaustive bibliographic review and interviews with experts., whose results are analyzed and discussed in this study. The work explores two alternatives for the analysis of expected credit losses. The first consists of a simplified approach segmented by customer type and validating historical data to understand patterns for better decision making and a greater understanding of bad debt behavior. Second, a method based on macroeconomic factors is proposed to project expected credit losses, with the intention of evaluating relevant trends that influence the payment capacity of clients. It is concluded that the expected credit loss method using historical rates segmented by type of client provides a more detailed evaluation of credit risk.
