This paper discusses the protection of pregnant women from being dismissed from employment, in accordance with the Constitutional Court's decision in Judgment 424/2020, which pertains to Case 00677-2016-PA/TC. Therefore, a theoretical framework will be developed that encompasses both the substantive and procedural aspects of the aforementioned ruling. Thus, the first segment will address topics related to the Social and Democratic State of Law, the social market economy, the right to freedom of contract and enterprise, the right to work, labor principles, the right to equality, the principle of equal employment opportunities, dismissal and its types, and the current labor protection for pregnant women. The second segment will be dedicated to issues related to the amparo process and the ordinary labor process, as well as the legal doctrine established through the case being examined. Based on this, a critical reflection will be made on the Constitutional Court's reasoning in the judgment under analysis, through which alternatives will be proposed to efficiently guarantee the protection of pregnant women against dismissal in our country.
