Recent studies in Latin America converge on the lack of attention to talent management and human resources processes in SMEs. The company studied is not an exception to this reality. The human resources area is limited to performing operational personnel administration processes, as in a volatile and complex environment, managers prioritize the need to keep their organization current in the market. Currently, the company faces a series of internal discrepancies, role conflicts, and administrative reprocessing that originate from personnel hiring. The analysed SME belongs to the engineering and infrastructure services sector, with over 20 years of experience in the field, specializing in the assembly of installations and maintenance of energy and industrial plants. The objective of the professional proficiency work is to understand the impacts on people management, work environment, and employee job satisfaction caused by irregularities in the recruitment and selection processes in an SME in the service sector. The case study was conducted through qualitative and exploratory research, including in-depth interviews with the company's administrative and operational managers. Among the most relevant findings were the lack of updated job profiles and the functions manual, as well as a suboptimal recruitment and selection process that affects job satisfaction and the work environment. Finally, the study concludes with improvement proposals aimed at staff training, formalization of processes, and alignment with results, which have a positive impact on the company.
