This project focuses on the study of operations management in a company in the mining exploration sector, a firm with more than 50 years of experience in diamond drilling services for the mining sector. The main problem addressed is the poor performance in the execution of most of the operations of its project portfolio. To address the case, a diagnosis is carried out where, based on the use of a quantitative and qualitative model, it is concluded that the main causes, which generate an unfavorable economic impact, could be mitigated to a large extent by applying the PHVA methodology. For this, a model is proposed that associates industrial engineering tools such as Kanban, standardized work and the RACI matrix, in order to increase the efficiency of the operation, reduce unproductive times and how consequently greatly mitigate the cost overruns identified as a result of the low efficiency rates detected. It is concluded that the application of the PHVA methodology leads to continuous improvement in operations, managing to improve the efficiency of the operation, and the costs with respect to the budget and the planned scope.
