This study focuses on modeling two intersections on Benavides Avenue using the Vissim microsimulation software. The research began with data collection, including vehicle counts, travel times, and road dimensions. With this data, a detailed model of the current intersections was designed. The objective was to propose a redesign to optimize travel times and improve the level of service for public transportation. The redesign included lane reconfiguration, optimization of traffic signal timings, and improvements in public transport infrastructure. A meticulous calibration of the model was also carried out to ensure it accurately reflected real conditions. Subsequently, the model was validated to confirm the authenticity of the proposed improvements. The results indicated that these modifications could reduce travel times from approximately 17 seconds to 8 seconds and improve the level of service from C to A, benefiting public transport users. This work highlights the effectiveness of Vissim in urban traffic planning and offers a replicable methodology for addressing similar issues in other urban environments. The calibration and validation of the model ensure that the proposals are viable and effective, providing a solid foundation for future improvements in road infrastructure.
