This research analyzes operational inefficiencies at SIMA, a Peruvian public company dedicated to naval construction and repair, as well as metal-mechanics. The investigation focuses on project delivery delays, primarily due to outdated and inflexible logistical processes, and delays in payments to suppliers resulting from the financial process. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and propose the most suitable solution to address the problematic situation. The study recommends the implementation of process management methodologies to streamline and update logistical and financial operations, for which different alternatives were analyzed. Through interviews with key personnel, personal communications, and internal document review, the research identified critical factors causing these inefficiencies in the processes. The expected outcomes include process optimization, reduction of unnecessary workflows, improved project delivery times, and increased customer satisfaction. Additionally, the research highlights the importance of continuous training and the establishment of controls to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of these improvements. The findings underscore the need for SIMA to modernize its operational procedures to maintain its competitiveness and reliability in the naval and metal-mechanics industry.
