The city of Piura has a rich history dating back to before the conquest, beautiful artistic and artisanal expressions and representative dances that show a mixture of Spanish, indigenous and African cultures. This cultural wealth contrasts excessively with the deplorable state of the city's real estate heritage, its scarce cultural infrastructure and lack of identity; seeing this situation worsened by the El Niño Phenomenon of 2017. In response to this situation, the Diffusion Center project is proposed, located in the Historic Center of the city on the banks of the Piura River in an area degraded by abandonment and environmental phenomena. This privileged location allows not only to generate a positive impact in the area but also to create a physical and mental connection of the city with the river by orienting the building towards it through viewpoints and creating public spaces for commerce and recreation of citizens. The project's varied range of activities aims to meet part of the city's cultural needs by implementing permanent exhibition rooms to teach the history of the city; auditorium along with rehearsal rooms; workshops also for teaching artisanal traditions along with complementary services such as archives and rooms for the conservation of pieces. Finally, local vermicular traditions are taken as a reference to be able to adapt the project to the harsh climatic conditions of the area, thus achieving complete integration of the project with its environment and local identity.
