Brands use influencers to share their opinions and experiences with the product or service the company offers. In addition, people with low self-esteem are more likely to be influenced, to have a higher purchase intention and positive attitude towards the brand due to unsatisfied needs. The objective is to determine the relationship between young people's attitudes towards purchase intention and self-esteem. Likewise, the aim is to find the differences according to gender for ewom (electronic word of mouth marketing) consumption behavior and self-esteem. The method is simple correlational and comparative. Data were collected from 178 young participants between 18 and 24 years of age, of both genders and from different university cycles, belonging to private universities and living in Metropolitan Lima. The results showed statistically significant correlations with Loyalty (rs = .268; p < .001) and Trust (rs= .225; p < .01). In addition, group differences were identified by gender on the attractiveness dimension of purchase intention generated by influencers. The size of these differences were small (rb= .26). In conclusion, it was demonstrated that the self-esteem and attitudes of young university students in Metropolitan Lima are influenced by the influencers who share their opinions and experiences with the products or services offered by the companies.
