Over the past 10 years, the plastic products industry has undergone significant fluctuations, alternating between periods of substantial growth and contraction. Between 2014 and 2019, the production of these products experienced an increase of 11.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 2.2%. This increase was mainly due to the growing demand for plastic products in sectors such as construction, sanitation, transportation, and packaging, both domestically and internationally. This study investigated the case of a company located in Lima dedicated to the manufacture of thermoplastic valves for the sanitation sector, with the aim of improving productivity in its manufacturing process. Nonconformities exist within any process, and when these exceed certain defined limits, delays in projected deliveries occur, and the company faces a higher percentage of rescheduling, operating costs, and lower customer satisfaction. Many of the company's plastic valves were rejected because they exhibited functional defects, color variations, burrs on the surfaces, and even low durability test resistance. Process management combined with method improvement was applied to address this issue. Process management provides a perspective and tools to optimize and reformulate workflows to increase efficiency. In contrast, work study focuses on maximizing resource utilization and increasing productivity.
