The number of accidents recorded by the National Police of Peru on the Lima – Cieneguilla highway, specifically in the section known as “el serpentín”, is the main problem that motivates this investigation. According to the reports registered at the Cieneguilla police station, in 2022, there were more than 30 accidents between mistakes and rollovers, both fatal and non-fatal. For this study, the main causes have been sought in order to align the project with an engineering investigation. This is how the outdated road design is determined as the main cause due to vehicular growth and increase in high traffic, mainly on weekends. Furthermore, complemented by a lack of adequate and modern signage. The result of the proposed geometric redesign is analyzed based on the HSM and its predictive analysis. The decrease in accidents is reflected in a 51.67% number of accidents per year, which supports that the redesign will considerably reduce the risk of accidents in the “El serpentín” section of Cieneguilla. As a fundamental conclusion, our proposed solution to the problem of accidents that occur in the section under study is supported by the analyzes and procedures carried out in this investigation, where field and office analysis was carried out and was complemented with the HSM predictive analysis
