The present research focuses on the issue of the inefficient masonry construction process in schools in Peru that use mixed systems of masonry and frames, particularly addressing problems such as the formation of short columns. The main factors contributing to the issue are identified as non-compliance with regulations, inadequate seismic analysis, and improper structural design, which increase the seismic vulnerability of school buildings. The purpose of this study is to conduct a detailed seismic analysis and develop an appropriate structural design to enhance the safety and efficiency of school constructions. By employing advanced computational models and comparing the results with national regulations, the aim is to create an optimized design that meets regulatory requirements and ensures safe structural performance against seismic events. Additionally, the study includes results of displacement and maximum drifts in the vertical axis, as well as the sizing of structural elements and the calculation of required steel to strengthen school buildings against seismic risk.
