The main objective of this Professional Proficiency Work was to prepare an improvement proposal based on Method Engineering to increase the productivity of the metal column manufacturing process in a company in the metalworking sector. In this research work, antecedents linked to the metalworking sector and the low levels of productivity found were analyzed. Likewise, a problem identification process was carried out through the problem tree (technical gap, economic impact, reasons and root causes) and the objectives were defined through an objective tree. An engineering proposal related to the application of engineering methods was developed, in which a motion study and a time study were carried out. In addition, solutions were developed to the problems detected, through the redesign of the workstations, the development of instructions for the handling of heavy loads, the creation of instructions for the standardization of the production process and the development of a training plan. to the workers. The simulation carried out allowed us to determine that the application of engineering methods will significantly increase productivity in the metalworking plant, from an initial value of 0.0621 metal columns/HH, to a final value of 0.0668 metal columns/HH (+7.47%). Furthermore, it is estimated that unproductive times will decrease significantly, from an initial value of 3.73 hours to a final value of 1.91 hours (-48.70%); and that reprocessing will also decrease significantly, from an initial value of 18.88%, to a final value of 11.45% (-7.43%).
