Recent research shows that there is a need to enhance the application of engineering approaches in trade sector distributors. Mainly, companies lack effective operational performance in their warehouses and distribution centers. Given this scenario, this present study analyzed a food distribution company. The main problem identified in this study was food wastage in the warehouse area, and the implementation of an appropriate solution design was proposed to mitigate it. Using Lean Warehousing methodology, an improvement model was presented based on the integration of tools such as Slotting for Warehouse Control, Kanban, FEFO for perishable control, PokaYoke, and Standard Work for method error control, aiming to achieve favorable outcomes for the company. Currently, the company aims to reduce warehouse wastage by 6.65% and considers 3% as a limiting factor.
