It is crucial that companies have the ability to be flexible in order to effectively face continuous changes in the market. Organizations in general are made up of processes and these must be continuously improved so that the organization remains current in a market that is constantly changing. The processes that are commonly modified to have greater impacts are production, logistics, commercial and planning. In the case of educational publishing organizations, it is important to have a greater focus on the analysis of the supply chain since these types of organizations are affected by seasonality and trends. Paying attention to these variables can serve as a competitive advantage for organizations dedicated to the trade of educational books. This research project shows the difficulties that a publishing company dedicated to the creation and marketing of educational books for preschool and primary school has when planning the number of books to be purchased during the school campaign and also the methodology used to correctly store the acquired inventories. The purpose of the project is to improve the acquisition of books in the school campaign, since excessive purchases cause inventory immobilization and this brings with it a reduction in the organization's profits or immobilization of capital that could be used to improve the different areas of the company. On the other hand, excessive purchases also cause deterioration-obsolescence of the merchandise, which brings losses to the company.
