The project focuses on applying Lean Manufacturing methodologies precisely the 5'S, standardization of processes and autonomous maintenance to minimize defective products in a textile SME. First, an analysis of the textile sector was carried out to recognize the problems it faces, then, a company in the same sector that is focused on the design, manufacture and marketing of industrial uniforms was chosen, an analysis of its processes was carried out resulting in one of its main processes such as “production“ has had many failures for continuous months and was contrasted with interviews with personnel and information that they provided at the time of the study. Also, we proceeded to identify the problem with the support of the Pareto diagram, obtaining as a standard product the overalls that present many defects which are knots in the threads, stains, erroneous designs, patches among others, which result in rework, loss of customers, loss of profits and low productivity. Therefore, this article will present how the implementation of engineering tools such as those already mentioned optimizes processes in critical state, minimizes products with defects by 90%, equaling the general technical gap in that sector and how the company under study increases its sales and improves the production chain providing total optimization.
