The structural design of a building is a priority when considering the construction of a house, especially in Peru, since the seismic danger is high due to the fact that it is located within the Pacific Ring of Fire. Therefore, the research aims to propose an improvement in the pre-dimensioning of reinforced concrete walls and masonry walls in the cities of Cusco and Lima. The research was developed through a non-experimental design with a quantitative approach. In order to identify the similarities to be considered in the pre-dimensioning of structural walls, the study was carried out in Seismic Zones 2 and 4. The results showed that the pre-dimensioning according to the Peruvian technical standards did not comply with respect to the existing load solicitation, for the seismic analysis the ETABS software was used in which drifts greater than the allowed 0.007 were identified, therefore iterations were performed with respect to the length of walls in both axes to ensure compliance with maximum drift. The wall lengths were identified and compared with the pre-dimensioned wall length according to the E.030 standard and a mathematical criterion was proposed to ensure the wall length and compliance with respect to the seismic design loads in multi-family buildings.
