The present research aims to develop an improvement proposal for the design of the bike lane on Mariano Pastor Sevilla and El Sol avenues in Villa el Salvador, with the purpose of enhancing the service level for cyclists during the 2027 Pan American Games. To achieve this objective, an analysis of the current conditions of the cycling infrastructure is conducted, identifying existing issues and assessing users' specific needs through surveys, interviews, and test rides on the sections under study. Various aspects are considered, such as the width of the bike lane, the current state of the lanes and surroundings, maintenance, signage, and connectivity with other transportation modes. The methodology employed includes an analysis of travel times, the flow of people and cyclists, as well as interviews with bike lane users, enabling us to improve the design of the cycling infrastructure. Among the results achieved is a 34% optimization in travel time, reducing the initial time by 13 minutes. Additionally, 47.5% of respondents affirm that a well-established network of bike lanes would encourage their usage. It is anticipated that the recommendations resulting from this study will significantly contribute to the promotion of bicycling as a sustainable transportation mode and to enhancing the cyclists' experience during the 2027 Pan American Games, benefiting both residents and event visitors.
