In cities like Lima, the low pedestrian accessibility for people with reduced mobility on the streets is a recurring problem they face from the moment they try to access bus stops or stations. Narrow sidewalks, poor pavement conditions, uneven surfaces, inadequate ramp designs, pedestrian crossings without proper signage, and poorly placed street furniture obstructing the way are common issues. This work addresses this problem in a section of Av. Javier Prado, which connects two public transportation stops. This is a high-demand route that does not prioritize pedestrians. The objective is to improve pedestrian access through infrastructure redesign, creating an inclusive environment that facilitates autonomous and safe movement. To achieve this, an analysis of the current situation of the section was carried out, identifying existing physical barriers for people with reduced mobility. Then, the behavior of users was characterized by collecting opinions from a determined sample. Subsequently, accessibility standards regulations were consulted, and the specific needs of this group were considered to create a checklist. With this information, areas for improvement were identified, and proposals were designed to meet accessibility requirements, including the enhancement of ramps at strategic points, the repositioning of obstacles, improving pavement quality, and adapting bus stops. In conclusion, this work improves accessibility by 100% in terms of safety and comfort, based on regulations, achieving a more equitable and accessible environment that promotes equal opportunities.
