It is proposed to evaluate a system for using rainwater as a source to meet the partial demand of the dining room of the National University of San Cristóbal de Huamanga, due to the regular deficit in the supply of drinking water. To achieve this, descriptive research was carried out that focused on the collection and analysis of hydrological data such as precipitation in order to calculate the water supply in the Ayacucho area. The results showed a marked seasonality in rainfall, highlighting the need to consider the implementation of a rainwater interception system in the canteen coverage as a crucial strategy for the sustainable use of water resources. Furthermore, data on water supply indicate that, by implementing the rain harvesting system for domestic water, the water flow will be sufficient to supply the dining room, which supports the viability of this solution to the problem of water shortages. drinking in the dining room. The research adopted an experimental design to carry out comprehensive and consecutive processes, ensuring the obtaining of previously contemplated results.
