Sexual orientation conversion therapies have a long history of practices that have continued to develop despite the position of the American Psychological Association (APA), which has called them iatrogenic practices since 2000. In that sense, this study's objective is to know the perception of psychologists about conversion therapies. To this end, a qualitative study and interpretive phenomenological design was carried out, using semi-structured interviews with six psychologists who have treated people who have previously undergone sexual orientation conversion therapies. The research results are presented in three categories: characterization of conversion therapies, perception of the psychologist and consequences of conversion therapies on users. Based on these categories, it was identified that the so-called conversion therapies are carried out based on the belief that a person's sexual orientation can be modified through religious, psychotherapeutic or medical approaches that use violent techniques on a physical, psychological and sexual level. that end up generating negative consequences at a psychological and social level in the person who participates in them.
