The present professional sufficiency work proposes the improvement of the implementation of the RCM (reliability-based maintenance) to increase the availability indicator of the six-line blocking valves of the trunk gas pipeline 2 of the distribution company Cálidda Gas Natural del Perú. After analyzing the problem, it was identified that the current maintenance strategy does not guarantee optimal availability of the assets in question, due to the recurrence of fault alarms in the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and therefore a low availability indicator, not in accordance with the requirement of the BOOT concession contract with the state and the applicable legislation; in addition to the provisions of the regulations of the Ministry of Energy and Mines based on codes and international standards for the distribution of hydrocarbons. The improvement proposal consists of applying the tools of reliability-focused maintenance focused on mitigating the causes of failures and ensuring the safe and continuous operation of the trunk gas pipeline 02 service. In conclusion, the implementation of reliability-focused maintenance is the most appropriate and effective way to increase the availability of the line block valves of trunk pipeline 02. It is recommended that this proposal be applied to other installations such as those associated with medium and low-pressure gas pipelines.
