Audiovisual fiction products usually express social issues in a diverse and multifaceted way. One of these issues is, undoubtedly, the inequalities among the members of the social group. From that perspective, the objective of this research is to describe, comparatively, the audiovisual representation of racial stereotypes in two contemporary Peruvian films: Paraíso´s Gálvez (2009), and Un mundo para Juliu´s de Díaz (2019). For this purpose, a study was conducted with a qualitative approach, hermeneutic design or method, and descriptive scope, which responds to the interpretive paradigm of research. Content analysis was used as a data collection technique, for which the corresponding instrument, i.e., the audiovisual content analysis matrix, was developed, validated and applied. The most important results show that Paraíso and Un mundo para Julius differ in their approaches. The first film deals with racial stereotypes in an authentic way, while the second adopts a more explicit narrative in its representation. It is interesting to note that Paraíso uses local actors to express authenticity, while Un mundo para Julius uses professional actors in stereotypical roles. It is concluded that both films promote intercultural knowledge and social identity, making film an influential element in social perception and understanding.
