This study focused on rethinking the visual identity of the “Destino Arequipa” brand with the overall aim of facilitating the transmission of visual identity codes to national and foreign tourists. The methodology employed encompassed surveys and interviews conducted with both visitors and locals to comprehend their perceptions and recognition of Arequipa’s cultural elements. Two surveys were conducted in distinct phases. In the first phase, 41 responses were collected from visitors to understand their perception of Arequipa and its identity. Subsequently, additional interviews allowed for a deeper understanding of the context surrounding the “Destino Arequipa” brand and its operation. The second survey involved both locals and national/foreign visitors to identify the visually identifiable identity elements of Arequipa. These responses formed the foundation for creating new visual elements. In a general conclusion, this project successfully proposed a new visual identity for “Destino Arequipa.” A unique and recognizable visual representation of the region was created, capturing not only its cultural and natural essence but also serving as a benchmark for other regions in the country. This proposal not only revitalizes Arequipa’s visual identity but also establishes a model for crafting authentic and effective visual identities within the national and international tourism context.
