This paper is a case study of a group of social entrepreneurs in Lima – Peru, which discusses the characteristics of the profile of the entrepreneur and the business models of their ventures, while analyzing and identifying whether these are factors that influence the economic sustainability of their companies. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews with experts in social entrepreneurship and structured surveys with social entrepreneurs. These show that attributes such as creativity and innovation, leadership, motivation, networking and resilience are relevant. On the other hand, it is observed that there are different types of business model in social enterprises and the importance of their link to the social mission, obtaining as results that the profile of the entrepreneur and the business model influence economic sustainability, as well as that one of the most relevant motivators for social entrepreneurs is financial independence.
