This study aims to improve the fragmentation of blasted ore in mechanized underground mining operations, focusing on efficient energy management. This implies using energy more effectively, reducing its consumption in stages such as crushing and making better use of it in blasting. To fulfill the objective of this research, adjustments were made to the drilling and blasting parameters. A first model was used that evaluates how fragmentation affects mine unit operating costs. This model is based on methodologies developed by JKMRC (TCM and CZM) and the development of the Kuz Ram model (KCO) through the work of Swebrec and Rosin-Rammler and was measured using digital image analysis to determine the distribution of fragmentation. Obtaining an average reduction from 8.04 inches to 4.63 inches in the TJ 4185-1500 Veta M. and from 8.15 inches to 4.96 inches in the TJ 4288-1500 Cuerpo C. Furthermore, considering the fragmentation distributions as input data, the Bond comminution model (Work Index) was used for blasting and crushing. The values of 1840.75 Kwh/ST and 435.71 Kwh/ST were obtained, respectively. Drilling and blasting costs increased by 0.02 US$/MT and 0.11 US$/MT, respectively. However, the cost of loading was reduced by 0.19 US$/MT and transportation by 0.37 US$/MT. Therefore, finally, after the implementation of the research, the unit costs of mining and crushing went from 6.98 US$/MT to 6.54 US$/MT.
