The research problem arises from the observation of the creation of new Peruvian fashion brands and the intrigue to know the processes, tools and materials that are being used taking into account the environmental pollution that fashion generates. The importance of the present study lies, specifically, in the documentation of the application of the upcycling process in fashion from 2018-2022 in Lima, Peru. For this purpose, a case study has been considered starting with the NIM brand. From this, it will be documented written and visually the way in which this brand applies the upcycling strategy, on fashion and the complementary processes it uses to support sustainable fashion. Also, to achieve these objectives, the concept of upcycling has been defined from different points of view of various authors. In addition, it has been compared with the recycling process. These definitions have been contrasted with the information obtained through interviews with the founder of the NIM brand in order to know with certainty the procedures she carries out. To complement the findings, an analysis of two more interviews with Peruvian fashion designers who practice different sustainable fashion strategies, including upcycling, was carried out. In this way, their views on the application of upcycling in the design and production process will be known, as well as the difficulties they have during these processes when including upcycling and the interest and reception that Peruvian consumers have had towards this sustainable fashion strategy. Therefore, in this research we propose to know how upcycling has been applied in fashion brands in Metropolitan Lima in the period 2018-2022, the case of the NIM brand.
