The Health Literacy (HL) is essential for individuals to make convenient and informed decisions. This study focuses on investigating whether patients at the “Victor Ramos Guardia” Hospital in Huaraz have a positive perception of their health and if this perception is associated with an adequate level of HL. Objective: To investigate how the positive perception of health relates to the level of health literacy in patients aged 30 to 60 who attend outpatient consultations at the “Victor Ramos Guardia” Hospital during the period from June 8th to July 8th, 2022. Methodology: During the period June 8th to July 8th, 2022, an observational analytical study was conducted on patients aged 30 to 60 who visited the “Victor Ramos Guardia” Hospital. The surveys were conducted in person, and the HLS-EU-Q16 test was used to assess health literacy. Results: Based on the statistical analyses conducted, the proposed hypothesis was confirmed. To evaluate this relationships, the Poisson Regression technique was employed, and the results indicated that a self-perception of health classified as “very good” was statistically significant compared to a level of health literacy considered “sufficient” (p <0.001). Conclusions: An association is observed between patients with a positive perception of their health and those with a sufficient level of health literacy. We suggest conducting further research to enhance patients’ health literacy, which could enable them to interact more efficiently within the healthcare system, thus benefiting their overall well-being.
