This research focuses on determining the influence of para-tariff barriers on Peruvian exports of heading 090111 to Switzerland within the FTA with EFTA between 2011 and 2023. For this purpose, a mixed and explanatory methodology is used, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. For the qualitative analysis, using a grounded theory design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with sectoral experts from public and private institutions, as well as with exporting companies. For the quantitative analysis, through a longitudinal design, a multiple linear regression model based on the New Theory of International Trade, using information obtained from official secondary sources. The research focused on a sample of 6 companies exporting unroasted and decaffeinated coffee to Switzerland between 2011 and 2023, and a sample of 156 data. The results reveal that sustainability standard certifications, certificates of origin and SPS measures influence exports of unroasted and decaffeinated coffee, while the quantity exported in previous seasons and the exchange rate quantifiably explain the influence of these para-tariff barriers on the performance of exports of this product to Switzerland. Therefore, it is concluded that, although the FTA signed between Peru and Switzerland is not considered significant in this context, the para-tariff barriers influence the exports of this product and the coffee sector, even though they do not represent an insurmountable obstacle to access this market.
