The present research proposed "Quality control standards of BIM models used in the design stage in multifamily buildings in Metropolitan Lima" in order to reduce rework in modeling in the design stage. The aim was to propose standards to carry out quality control at the BIM model modelling stage. Quality standards will be presented in a checklist format; For its development, the use of surveys and interviews with different BIM specialists was resorted to in order to collect the necessary information, where the experiences of each modeler and with the deficiencies exposed by the experts were obtained, as a final result the absence of normative standards for BIM modeling in the design stage. That is why standards are proposed that would help to carry out quality control for the BIM modeler in the modeling stage. The use of standards allowed that no rework was carried out, causing a saving in man-hours in the modeling of 3 projects, an average saving of 13.23% in working time was quantified, thus demonstrating positive results. In general, quality control in the design phase of BIM-based projects seeks to minimize errors, improve efficiency, and reduce risks in the later stages of the project. By ensuring the quality of the BIM model from the outset, greater accuracy, collaboration, and efficiency can be achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
