The present research has the general objective to identify the relationship that exists between perceived social support and body dissatisfaction. A random sample composed of 193 women between 18 and 25 years old, residents of various districts of Metropolitan Lima, was selected. The questionnaires were administered: Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ-14) and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). The JAMOVI program version 1.2 was used to analyze the results. The results showed that the significant others dimension presents the highest average score, while the friends and family dimension presents the lowest average score. Furthermore, the scores obtained by the participants on the BSQ-14 were on average 46.4. Likewise, it was observed that there are statistically significant positive correlations between family, significant others and body image. However, no statistically significant correlations were found between friends and body image. It is concluded that there is a significant and inverse relationship between perceived social support and body dissatisfaction.
