Parentalidad en padres y madres con hijos menores de ocho años

Abstract

El objetivo de la investigación fue explorar cómo es ejercida la parentalidad por un grupo de padres y madres residentes en la ciudad de Lima, con hijos menores de ocho años. Para este fin, se realizó un estudio cualitativo de diseño fenomenológico, realizándose una entrevista semiestructurada a 4 madres y 3 padres, cuyas edades se encontraban comprendidas entre los 30 a 50 años. Los hallazgos más relevantes están orientados a la importancia de las experiencias tempranas y diversas vivencias que han tenido los entrevistados, y la influencia de éstas en la forma en cómo educan a sus hijos. La mayoría de los entrevistados emplea algún tipo de violencia, ya sea verbal o física, a pesar de no estar de acuerdo con la utilización de esta; pero a su vez, expresan que el ser padres o madres los empuja a ser mejores personas y a reconocer la necesidad que tienen de poder manejar esas acciones violentas.

The objective of the research was to explore how a group of fathers and mothers living in the city of Lima, with children under eight years of age exercises parenting. For this purpose, a qualitative study of phenomenological design was carried out, with a semi-structured interview to 4 mothers and 3 fathers, whose ages ranged from 30 to 50 years old. The most relevant findings are oriented to the importance of early experiences and diverse experiences that the interviewees have had and the influence of these on the way in which they educate their children. Most of the interviewees use some type of violence whether verbal or physical, even though they do not agree with the use of violence; but at the same time, they express that being parents pushes them to be better people and to recognize the need they have to be able to handle these violent actions.
