Abstract: Se desarrolló un estudio cualitativo con 10 brigadistas, de edades entre 28 y 60 años, aplicando la técnica de la entrevista semiestructurada. El objetivo del estudio fue describir las estrategias de afrontamiento que emplean los brigadistas para manejar el impacto emocional al realizar su trabajo. Los principales resultados indican que la emergencia impacta emocionalmente en los brigadistas e interfiere, ya sea positiva o negativamente, en el trabajo colectivo. Además, se encontró que, durante las emergencias, los brigadistas utilizan estrategias psicológicas y psicosociales, como la desensibilización o la búsqueda de apoyo espiritual. De estas, las ligadas a lo social ayudaron a reducir los síntomas de estrés y ansiedad. Sin embargo, en algunos casos, adoptaron hábitos poco saludables tras concluir la asistencia de una emergencia. A pesar de demostrar una gestión adecuada del impacto emocional durante la emergencia, se observaron dificultades en la gestión emocional y la implementación de estrategias de afrontamiento después de la conclusión de esta, ya que algunos adoptaron comportamientos poco saludables, como evitar compartir sus experiencias con otros o recurrir al consumo de cigarrillos para abordar sus emociones.
This investigation is a qualitative study that was conducted with 10 emergency brigadier, aged between 28 and 60 years, using the semi-structured interview technique. The aim of the study was to describe the coping strategies used by emergency brigadier to manage the emotional impact of their work. The main results indicate that emergencies have an emotional impact on emergency brigadier and interfere, either positively or negatively, with collective work. Furthermore, it was found that during emergencies, they employ psychological and psychosocial strategies, such as desensitization or seeking spiritual support. Among these, those related to social aspects helped reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety. However, in some cases, they adopted unhealthy habits after completing emergency assistance. Despite demonstrating effective management of emotional impact during emergencies, difficulties were observed in emotional management and the implementation of coping strategies after the conclusion of the emergency.
