In recent years, within Health Administrative Units, following the COVID-19 pandemic, deficiencies in the supply of medications and supplies to adequately meet the needs of users have become evident. This is primarily attributed to inadequate information management, resulting in a lack of inventory control, leading to shortages or excesses of medications and supplies. The purpose of this research is to focus on optimizing the management of medical resources and supplies in Health Administrative Units through a Business Intelligence (BI) best practices guide, evaluating gaps and critical success factors. The proposed guide encompasses activities from the initial organizational preparation to continuous improvement. Chapter I explains the problem, outlines objectives, and provides social, economic, and technical justification. Chapter II presents the necessary theoretical framework to develop the proposal, emphasizing BI best practices and standards applicable to the healthcare sector. Chapter III assesses the problematic situation to identify and analyze its root causes. Chapter IV outlines the proposed guide, subdivided into 10 steps detailing activities and criteria for implementation. Finally, in Chapter V, qualitative and quantitative benefits are analyzed.
