Objectives: To evaluate the association between joint hypermobility and ankle stability in athletes from a university in Lima, Peru. Material and methods: An observational, cross-sectional analytical study was carried out by evaluating joint hypermobility through the Beighton Test, measuring joint range with goniometry and dynamic balance was evaluated with the Y Balance Test. 99 athletes participated according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria of this research. The STATA 16 program was used for data analysis. Results: 99 athletes of both sexes participated, with a median sports practice of 9 years for males and 5 years for females. 59.6% had stability in one of the ankles and 28.3% had hypermobility. No association was found between joint hypermobility and ankle stability, as well as the other variables evaluated such as sex, age, height, weight, BMI, ethnicity, or those related to sports practice and training. Conclusions: No association was found between joint hypermobility and ankle stability. It is advisable to conduct more research on joint hypermobility in athletes with a larger sample.
