This phenomenological qualitative research describes the experience of job insecurity and its impact on the mental health of musical artists residing in Peru. Ten artists aged between 25 and 54, with a minimum of 2 years of experience, were interviewed. A thematic analysis was conducted on the dimensions of job insecurity experience based on the theoretical framework of Amable et al. (2001): temporality, vulnerability, salary level, and social protection. Subsequently, through a hybrid analysis involving deductive and inductive reasoning, three dimensions were established: being an artist, experiences of job insecurity, and the impact on mental health. The study concludes the existence of job insecurity manifested in relation to payment, contractual informality, and psychosocial risks. These experiences have repercussions on the mental health of the artists, manifesting through feelings of anxiety, frustration, depression, and stress. Despite these challenges, some artists choose strategies such as job diversification, therapy, and perseverance. This work highlights the importance of comprehensively addressing working conditions in the music industry with an aligned and specialized approach to reduce the impact found on mental health.
