The research aimed to determine how electronic commerce influences the profitability of small and medium-sized companies in the gastronomic sector of the District of San Juan de Lurigancho, through the development of applied research, mixed approach, explanatory scope and a non-experimental design. cross. In the qualitative research, the in-depth interview was used as a technique for collecting information and as an instrument a semi-structured interview of 14 items was used applied to three experts in the administrative and accounting areas. At a quantitative level, a survey was used as a technique and a 22-question questionnaire as an instrument applied to a probabilistic sample of 44 SMEs with a high reliability of 0.7493 measured through Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient. The results revealed the existence of a linear, direct, positive and weak relationship between electronic commerce and profitability with a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.390 and a significance (ρ) of 0.317. The general assumption was verified, highlighting that the incursion of SMEs in ecommerce responded to a situation due to Covid 19; experiencing a substantial improvement in its sales volumes which has allowed greater profitability; recognizing that they have had to make investments in technological equipment to provide technical support for operations, being returned in the medium term because it has generated the expected benefits. The study is configured in five chapters that cover the theoretical framework, the problems, methodology, development and analysis of results.
