This research focused on discerning the link between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and the job performance of sales consultants in an automotive commercial company, using a descriptive-explanatory methodology. A sample of 20 individuals working in the sales department of the brands Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat was used. Emotional Intelligence was studied in 4 dimensions: Self-Emotional Assessment, Emotional Assessment of Others, Use of Emotions and Emotion Regulation (Salovey & Brackett, 2004). These were compared with job performance metrics through questionnaires applied to 222 customers during the year 2022. In statistical analysis, using Spearman coefficient, a value of 0.510 was obtained. This suggests a moderate and direct relationship: as the EI score increases, a proportional increase in job performance is anticipated. When segmenting EI, it is observed that 99% of the participants exhibit a high degree of emotional competence. In summary, this study highlights the direct connection between Emotional Intelligence and Job Performance in the automotive commercial sector, suggesting the importance of fostering emotional skills to optimize job performance.
