The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the udder hygiene score and subclinical mastitis in dairy cows from the Lima - Peru basin in 2023. The study population was a total of 684 primiparous Holstein cows and lactating multiparous. During the milking routine, the California Mastitis Test (CMT) and the udder hygiene score were performed. The descriptive table and a GLM Log-Binomial regression analysis were performed. A prevalence of 24.2% of subclinical mastitis was found. A correlation of subclinical mastitis was determined in cows with score 1, 2 and 3 with 19.28%, 37.5%, and 50% respectively (P <0.001). Cows positive for subclinical mastitis with udder hygiene score 2 are 1.95 times more likely to have subclinical mastitis than those with udder hygiene score 1 (RPa CI 95% 1,49-2,54) and cows with udder hygiene score 3 obtained 2.60 times more than those with udder hygiene score 1 (RPa CI 95% 1.43-4,7 P <0.001). Multiparous cows positive for subclinical mastitis are 2.36 times more likely to have subclinical mastitis, compared to primiparous cows (RPa CI 95% 1,5-3,72 P <0.001). It was determined that the hygiene of the udder and the number of births are risk factors for the presence of subclinical mastitis in dairy cows.
