INTRODUCTION: The recent pandemic due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus generated the intervention of various measures to safeguard the population, including the implementation of vaccines, initially in the experimental phase. As a result, the possible adverse effects of its application have been studied in various populations worldwide, however, there are studies with discrepant results about the association between alterations in the menstrual cycle after vaccination against COVID-19. OBJECTIVE: Determine the relationship between vaccination with at least 1 dose against SARS-CoV-2 and an alteration in the menstrual cycle of women of childbearing age in Metropolitan Lima. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Analytical cross-sectional study, carried out on a group of 562 women between 18 and 49 years old who completed a questionnaire developed in order to evaluate or identify if there were alterations in your menstrual cycle after the administration of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 RESULTS: It was found that women began to present symptoms from the application of the first dose, regardless of the type of vaccine administered. Likewise, changes in the menstrual cycle were reported between the first and third doses of vaccination against COVID-19, with 1 dose finding an RPa: 5.73; CI: 95% (3.78-8.70), with 2 doses we found an RPa: 5.96; CI:95% (4.03-8.82); and with 3 doses we found an RPa: 5.88; CI: 95% (3.95 – 8.74), all with a p value <0.001. CONCLUSIONS: The relationship between the administration of at least 1 dose of vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the presentation of alterations in the menstrual cycle in fertile women from Metropolitan Lima was demonstrated.
