Exports are a crucial component in the economic growth and development of nations, but they involve barriers that disable their full participation in the global economy. Cajamarca has experienced a series of internal barriers to exporting that have impacted the internal behavior of exporters in the last ten years. This study seeks to determine the relationship between internal barriers to exporting and the internal export behavior of MSEs participating in the “Export Route“ program during 2021 in the Cajamarca region. For this purpose, the relationship between the dimensions of internal barriers: information, functional and marketing barriers, and the internal export behavior of the MSEs was described. Using a mixed methodology, with a non-experimental descriptive correlational scope, 147 MSEs participating in Ruta Exportadora, year 2021 were evaluated, applying a convenience sampling, 20 entrepreneurs were surveyed and 8 people were interviewed, including experts and representatives of the companies under study. The quantitative technique used was the correlational statistical analysis, determined by Pearson's correlation coefficient and, qualitatively, the content analysis of the interviews and primary sources was carried out. The quantitative results showed a negative correlation, since the higher the perception of internal barriers, the lower the internal export behavior. The qualitative results revealed that the different views of the MSEs on the perception of barriers varied according to the size of the company, the industry and their internal export behavior.
