Background: Certain factors have a strong association with survival after pediatric cardiac surgery and are used in the clinical setting. However, there are few survival studies in Peru. Objectives: Evaluate the factors associated with survival in patients undergoing cardiac surgery with extracorporeal circulation at the National Institute of Children's Health, the period from January 1, 2001 to January 1, 2020. Methods: A study of retrospective cohort of records of patients under 18 years of age admitted to the Cardiovascular Postoperative Unit of the National Institute of Children's Health in Breña who underwent extracorporeal circulation and met all the eligibility criteria. Results: Cox regression analysis showed that age, RACHS-1 score, open chest, cardiac arrest, and peritoneal dialysis were independently associated with a low survival (all p-values <0.05). Conclusions: The survival of children undergoing cardiac surgery in our center is very satisfactory. The survival of the group studied at 1, 5, 10 and 15 years after being operated was like that detected in other studies.
