The main objective of this research is to reduce and avoid the generation of immobilized inventory by improving inventory planning in a Peruvian company dedicated to the production and commercialization of explosives whose 95% of demand comes from mining, a strategic sector that contributes 8% of the country's PBI. Today, efficient inventory management is essential for companies seeking competitiveness, as it increases the level of service, reduces maintenance costs, optimizes storage and reduces the risk of obsolescence. Likewise, efficient management optimizes cash flows and working capital that represent the financial situation of the business. For this reason, leading companies worldwide efficiently manage their inventories using key indicators, among which is the index of slow and obsolete inventories (SLOB's) with a recommended acceptance range between 7 and 10% according to best practices. leading companies in the sector under study. Three industrial engineering tools were applied for the proposal. First, the SCOR model was used as a diagnostic tool, which allowed identifying gaps in the company's planning processes. Subsequently, the planning system was modified from a totally Push system to a hybrid Push & Pull system and, finally, the S&OP process was redesigned with a focus on continuous monitoring and action plans in order to avoid the increase of SLOB's in the company. Finally, the main result of the implementation was an improvement in the performance of the inventory planning of the company under study, achieving a successful reduction from 26% to 9% of SLOB's over the total inventories managed by the business.
