This study had as objective to evaluate the association between the presence of moderate and severe obsessive-compulsive symptoms and a low BMI in undergraduate students in a private university. This had an analytical cross-sectional observational design. A survey was used for data collection which was sent to 1046 participants. The data collected was analyzed using association tests such as Chi Square and Poisson. The association between a low BMI and the presence of moderate to severe obsessive-compulsive symptoms had a p value of 0.4. An association was found between these variables and a vegetarian or vegan diet with a P value of 0.02 and with a low socioeconomic position with a P value of 0.001. No association was found between a low BMI and the presence of obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
