The plastics sector has shown a global market growth of 4% in recent years. Furthermore, the plastic industry represents 4% of the industrial GDP in Peru, enabling it to generate more than 200,000 job opportunities. However, it is concerning that the utilization of the installed capacity in Peru's plastic sector hovers around 71.5%, primarily due to planned (setup) and unplanned downtime. Consequently, the plastic industry is compelled to optimize its processes to avoid financial losses. In this context, it was proposed to utilize the following Lean Manufacturing tools: 5S, SMED, TPM, and Standardized Work with the aim of achieving efficiency improvements. This model was implemented in a decorative plastics company within its main production line, which was struggling with efficiency issues, as it had an OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) indicator of 62.3%, significantly below the world-class benchmark of 85%. After implementing the aforementioned tools, an OEE of 86.3% was achieved. In conclusion, the presented model increased the indicator by 24%, affirming that these tools have significantly contributed to the substantial improvement of the studied production line, enhancing its efficiency.
