Objective: To evaluate fruit and vegetable intake and BMI in Peruvians aged 18 to 59 years according to their cigarette consumption based on the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) 2020. Methods: Secondary analysis of the ENDES 2020. We included people who answered all the modules on risk factors for noncommunicable diseases, fruit and vegetable consumption, anthropometry and blood pressure measurements, and cigarette consumption. The chi-square test was used to compare the variables “smokers“, “fruit and vegetable intake“ and “body mass index“ and Student's t-test was used for the age covariate. Results: Data from 17 235 persons (36.3 ±11.5 years) were analyzed. A total of 18.9% were smokers and 69.3% were overweight. There was no significant difference in the consumption of five or more servings per day of fruits and vegetables between smokers (7.1%) and non-smokers (8.3%). In the group of smokers, no significant differences were observed in the consumption of fruits and vegetables according to body mass index (underweight: 2.7%; normal: 5.7%; overweight: 7.8%). Conclusions: Compliance with the recommended daily fruit and vegetable intake in the population studied was very low. No significant differences were observed in fruit and vegetable consumption between smokers and non-smokers, nor between the different BMI categories.
