This study focused on determining the relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance. A five-point Likert-type survey was used to achieve the objective and measure the variables of this project. To construct this tool, the dimensions of each variable were taken into account, being 3 for Emotional Intelligence and 3 for Work Performance. The research is carried out under the descriptive correlation type methodology with a quantitative and cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 220 workers from the three chosen department stores located in the Jockey Plaza Shopping Center, in the Santiago de Surco district. It should be noted that a simple random probability sampling was used to determine the number of collaborators surveyed. After collecting and measuring the information obtained, the correlation between both variables was analyzed and calculated using the IBM SPSS Statistics application. This measure gives a value of 0.468, confirming the general hypothesis of this study. In summary, the results of the study confirmed the existence of a relationship between both variables. These results demonstrate that emotional intelligence plays an important role in the development and improvement of skills for the benefit of the organization.
