Introduction: Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Peru. Early detection reduces mortality and morbidity. During the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic, cancer screening was reduced due to the suspension of various programs and healthcare services in Lima, Peru. Approximately 97.3% of the population in Lima had moderate or higher level of fear during the pandemic. Objective: Determine the association between the concern of COVID-19 and the intention to undergo cancer screening in adults aged 50-65 in Lima, Peru, in 2022. Materials and methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on adults aged 50-65 in Lima, Peru. Data collection was done through a Google Forms survey. The PRE-COVID-19 and Cancer worry Scale were employed, and the screening intention was assessed using two composite score questions. Data analysis was performed using the “STATA/SE-17.0” software, and multivariate analysis was conducted using the Poisson regression model. Results: 292 participants met the inclusion criteria. 53,4% were women, and the average age was 55.5 years. Participants with high concern about cancer had a 44% higher screening intention (PRc 1.44, 95% CI 1.05-1.97, p=0.024). Adjusted multivariate analysis found no significant association between a high concern about COVID-19 contagion and the screening intention (PRa 0.82, 95% CI 0.60-1.11, p=0.201). Conclusion: There is no association between concern about COVID-19 and the intention to undergo preventive cancer screening in adults aged 50-65 in Lima, Peru, in 2022 during the third wave of COVID-19 infections.
