The representation of the female body in fashion and beauty advertising has been immersed in a hegemonic and standardized model that focuses primarily on thin models without “imperfections“, generating stereotypes about the perfect woman and promoting a negative perception of bodies that do not conform to these demands. In response to this problem, the body positive movement arose, whose purpose is to promote acceptance of the real body and eliminate social stereotypes. As a result, brands have adopted this initiative to include women with bodies that reflect the diversity of reality, incorporating plus-size models in their advertising. The objective of the research is to identify the perception of cyberactivists regarding the representation of plus size models in the digital advertising of local brands, including EQUI. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, using the snowball technique, to cyberactivists from Lima on the representation of plus size models in digital advertising on Instagram of EQUI. Considering the findings, for cyberactivists, they point out the importance of the inclusion of bodies in advertising, but that it is exposed in an authentic way. The study sample categorizes EQUI as a body positive brand due to the excessive discourse of positive phrases in its communication, in addition to being superficial for showing a hegemonic and unrepresentative diversity of plus size women.
